Insurance is considered to be part of the financial services industry, which means we offer a number of financial career options. At American Family Insurance, Finance is made up of seven individual divisions or departments:

1. Actuarial - Find out more about careers in the Actuarial Division by visiting our Actuarial Career Center.

2. Controller - Employees working in the Controller Division are responsible for everything from accounting forecasting to budget planning, tax compliance, financial reporting, cash handling, risk management and payroll.

3. Customer Billing Services - Customer Billing Services offers effective and efficient billing services for the American Family Insurance product lines. They provide convenient, cost-effective bill delivery and payment methods, as well as prompt, accurate responses to billing questions or requests.

4. Financial Services - American Family Insurance offers convenient solutions for borrowing and leasing needs by providing commercial real estate loans, home equity loans, auto loans and leases.

5. Internal Audit - The employees of the Internal Audit Department provide independent, fair, and objective appraisals of the effectiveness of the organization's internal control structure. They evaluate compliance with programs and procedures and review the usefulness, timeliness, reliability, and integrity of financial and operating information and the means used to report such information. Their goal is to help reduce American Family Insurance exposure to various risks - operational, financial, compliance, and area-specific.

6. Investments - The Investment Division works with stocks, bonds, venture capital, commercial mortgages and real estate.

7. Treasury - Treasury ensures that invested assets under safekeeping are adequately secured with financially stable custodians; that business is conducted with and supported by financially stable banking and financial institutions; that banking service fees are at a competitive level without a loss in service; and that cash balances are managed at a level that maximizes investment income yet provides the required liquidity. Treasury also ensures that rating agencies, third party creditors and banking relationships are provided with appropriate and timely communications about the group.
