How Do I File a Claim With American Family Insurance?

Report your claim. Open up the MyAmFam app or log in to My Account to start the claims process. Don’t have MyAmFam on your phone or tablet? You can download the app and file your American Family Insurance claim straight from your mobile device, 24/7, wherever you are. Then, check the status of your claim at any time from the app. You can also report a claim by calling 1-800-692-6326 or by contacting your American Family Insurance agent.

Keep your phone handy. Once your claim is filed, an American Family Insurance claims representative will contact you to go over your claim and what you can expect for next steps.

We’ll review your claim. Your personal claim representative will work with you to accurately evaluate your claim and help you navigate the next steps.

We’ll complete your claim as quickly as possible. After a prompt and fair assessment, your claim will be completed by our claims representatives. We’ll contact you as necessary. And you’re always encouraged to call us at 1-800-692-6326 with questions or concerns.

How Do Insurance Claims Work?

Gathering all the information you need to file a claim can be stressful, especially if the event you’re reporting has just happened. Knowing what you need before you need it can help alleviate some of those worries when the time comes to file.

How Do Insurance Claims Work for Auto Insurance & Homeowners Insurance?

To file an auto or home insurance claim, you should have this information available:

  • The date and time of the event.
  • A brief description of what happened.
  • Any photos of damage done to your vehicle or property.
  • The insurance and contact information of any others involved.

After you’ve filed the claim, a claims representative will review the information you provided and get back to you with the next steps in the claims process. If you’re currently in an emergency situation and need immediate assistance, please call 911 and make sure everyone involved is okay before filing a claim.

What About Other Claims?

Filing a business or farm/ranch insurance claim can be done online, by calling our claims center or by contacting your agent. To file a claim for one of these policies, you’ll need:

  • The date and time of the event.
  • A brief description of what happened.
  • The insurance and contact information of any others involved.

You can file a life insurance claim by contacting your agent or calling 1-800-692-6326, ext. 78080. You’ll need to provide the following information to do so:

  • The first and last name of the insured.
  • Their date of birth.
  • Their state of residence.
  • Their life insurance policy number.

To file a health insurance claim, you can contact your agent or call 1-888-755-3064.
